Founded in 1979 by a group of 12 women, La Maison Unies-Vers-Femmes (MUVF) is a helping house that provides assistance and accommodation to women who are victims of spousal abuse and to their children. Since its opening, the MUVF has accommodated over 5500 women and children and helped 15,000 other women and children in the Outaouais Region.

Although the main goal of La Maison Unies-Vers-Femmes is to provide assistance to women and children who are victims of spousal abuse, given its feminist philosophy, it contributes actively to social change. The MUVF works to change the dynamics of men's domination over women deeply anchored in mentalities. To achieve this goal, services and prevention must be closely linked to one day end the violence towards women and children.

La Maison Unies-Vers-Femmes is a member of the Regroupement provincial des maisons d'hébergement et de transition pour femmes victimes de violence conjugale. This alliance is essential to defend the rights and interests of those we help.
